Cathy is associate dean for outreach and extension in the College of Natural Resources at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She holds her bachelor’s degree in camp management and youth agency programming, her master’s degree in education, both from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and her doctorate in educational leadership from Edgewood University. Her master’s degree focused on training and curriculum development, with an emphasis in brain-based education. She spent 20 years in camp as a counselor, waterfront director, program director, and camp director, and she has served six years with the ACA national office in education and professional development. She has 20 years of experience as a lifeguard for pools and natural bodies of water, and she was a waterfront director for seven years, with specific expertise in waterskiing and swimming. During her tenure with ACA, she served as the aquatics liaison and was involved in collaboration and interaction with Markel Insurance, the American Red Cross, American Canoe Association, Ellis and Associates, and other numerous aquatics and risk management groups. When not working, she spends her time in, on, or under the water training for sprint triathlons, skiing, hiking, and biking in and around the state of Wisconsin. She is based out of Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
